Deliveries

Once your order is placed, you will receive a confirmation email right away. If you don’t see one, be sure to check your Junk Folder. You can also log into your account to see the order listed there.

We aren’t able provide exact delivery times. Here’s why — each delivery truck is routed the morning of with new orders coming in throughout the day, so it is difficult for us to estimate a delivery window. Most drivers will do their best to let you know when they are on the way. If you selected credit card payment, you do not need to be home for the delivery.

If you are paying by credit card, no — just be sure the fill position to your tank is clearly visible and accessible. If you are paying in cash, yes — you do need to be home for the oil delivery to pay the driver.

Our deliveries are dispatched based off a first-come-first serve basis as well as the location of your local delivery driver.

If you are completely empty and it is an emergency, you can keep your system going until we are able to get there by heading to your local gas station with a small fuel container to purchase a few gallons of diesel fuel (note: it must be DIESEL – NOT GASOLINE) and putting the diesel fuel in your fill pipe. Diesel fuel at the local pump is essentially the same as the heating oil we deliver. A couple gallons will keep you going until we get there. Next time, be sure to place your delivery early!

Just follow these easy steps (please also be sure to review our full cancelation policy in the section below).

  1. Sign into your account and click the “Cancel” button under the Orders section of your account dashboard.
  2. Your refund will be processed to the credit card that was charged. Please allow 5-7 days for it to show in your bank account.

Note: If you cancel 2 or more days before your scheduled delivery date, there is no cancellation fee and your full refund will be processed automatically. For example, if your delivery is scheduled for Wednesday and you cancel before 12pm EST on Monday, you will not incur a fee. If you cancel after that time frame, there will be a fee deducted from your refund.

Before you reschedule, is there anything we can do to help? Keep in mind that you don’t need to be home during delivery if you are paying via credit or debit card.

If you would still like to reschedule, you can log into your account and make the change there. Rescheduling less than two days out from your original delivery date will result in a fee. Please be sure to check out our full rescheduling policy below.

Don’t worry, you will only pay for the heating oil that is actually pumped into your tank. If your tank couldn’t take the full amount you ordered, you will be automatically refunded for the difference as soon as your delivery driver lets us know what your tank was able to take. Refund may take 3-5 business days to post to your account.

Just select ‘I don’t know’ from the drop down menu. The most common tank size is around 275 gallons so if you select a “Fill Up” delivery, that is what we’ll base your initial order off of. After your delivery, if your tank took less than that amount, you will automatically be refunded the difference.

Your heating oil delivery will be fulfilled by one of our in-network providers. Similar to how Hotels.com and Priceline.com work, our heating oil dealers offer us super low prices in exchange for online anonymity. You will always see who your assigned heating oil dealer on your order confirmation receipt. In order for a heating oil company to be apart of our network, they must be pre-vetted, insured, and thoroughly experienced so you can rest assured, you’re in great hands.

Nope! We don’t charge customers any fees to use our online platform. Our mission is to make life as easy as possible for homeowners needing to buy oil.

Not at this time. Instead, we leave you in control of how much oil you need and when to order. That keeps our prices low and gives you the ability to wait until the price is right for you before receiving a delivery.

We don’t. It’s how we keep our oil prices so low — we don’t bake extra “service labor” into our prices. But if you need help with your burner, we recommend calling an HVAC service tech.

Absolutely! Just be sure to let us know you are scheduling the delivery for a business by checking the “Commercial” box at check out.

Pricing

If you order a “fill up” delivery, your card will be charged for your tank capacity size times the price per gallon for that quantity. Once your delivery is made, the delivery driver checks his fuel truck’s meter reading to let us know how many gallons was pumped into your tank. The total adjustment is then made and the difference is then automatically refunded to your credit card. You do not need to contact us for a refund.

Your price is locked in and confirmed at the time you place your order.

You will only pay for the number of gallons that you received in your tank. We reconcile against the amount printed on your delivery ticket receipt. Any difference is automatically refunded to your credit card.

That means your tank took more or less gallons than you originally ordered. Your price per gallon is based upon the number of gallons delivered. If your tank took less gallons than you originally ordered, your price per gallon will adjust accordingly – that is the difference you are seeing on the delivery ticket receipt. Don’t worry though, there won’t be any surprises — all prices for each quantity bracket are shown at check out and on your order confirmation page.

By law, each heating oil delivery truck is equipped with a meter that prints out a ticket and stamps the amount of gallons that was pumped into your tank. These truck meters are regulated by the County Department of Weights & Measures and inspected & sealed regularly.

You can rest assured that the truck’s meter reading is the most fault-proof and accurate method of verification, even more so than a tank gauge or measurement stick. In fact, the truck’s meter reading is actually the only recognized method of accurately metering oil in the industry. This is how we are always able to verify that you received the right amount of fuel.

Payments & Refunds

We accept all major credit cards, debit cards, and depending on the local dealer in your area, cash may be accepted too.

Your credit or debit card is charged when you place your order. Any differences after delivery is made gets automatically refunded to that same card.

Absolutely. Our site has a secure socket layer (SSL) which keeps all your activity on our site secure. We are also PCI compliant, which means that all payment processing we do happens in a secure environment with the utmost standards for your protection.

We process refunds right away on our end, but it is not uncommon for banks to need 5-7 days to post it to your account.

Once your order has been placed, you will need to place a new order and cancel your prior order to switch payment methods. A cancellation fee will be incurred.

Rescheduling or Canceling

We try to be as flexible as possible but there are unfortunately many logistics involved to reverse your order when you cancel. If you are absolutely sure you want to cancel your delivery, here is how our policy works:

If you cancel at least 2 days before your scheduled delivery date, there is no cancelation fee and your full refund will be processed automatically. If you cancel after 12pm two (2) days before your scheduled delivery date, there will be a cancelation fee deducted from your refund amount.

To avoid a cancelation fee, you must cancel your order by 12pm two (2) days before your scheduled delivery. For example, if your delivery is scheduled for Wednesday, then you must cancel before 12pm EST on Monday to avoid a cancelation fee.

In cases that are extremely last minute, it is possible that we won’t be able to intercept your delivery driver before he arrives at your home. This is due to a variety of safety reasons including the driver’s inability to answer phone calls while operating a moving petroleum fuel tanker. In those cases, you will still be responsible for payment of the delivery.

If you would still like to reschedule, you can log into your account and make the change there.

Because of the logistical work involved in moving your delivery around, there will be a fee if you make changes to your order within 2 days of your scheduled delivery date. To avoid a fee for rescheduling, be sure to complete all changes to your order by 12pm EST two (2) days before your scheduled delivery. For example, if your delivery is scheduled for Wednesday, then you must make your changes before 12pm EST on Monday to avoid a fee.  If you change your order any time after that window, there will be a fee.

We cannot always guarantee that you will be able to reschedule. Sometimes it is too late to intercept the heating oil dealer to reschedule you. In that case, you are still responsible for payment on the delivery.

Canceling an order to place a new one will still result in a cancelation fee if it is done after 12pm EST two (2) days before the scheduled delivery date.

Just click “Forgot Password” at login and then enter in your email (it has to be the email address we have on file). We’ll send you a link to reset your password from there. If you can’t remember which email address you used, just get in touch with us at hello@starhomeheat.com.
